Infographic – Job Screening with Social Networks
Reppler conducted a survey of 300 hiring professionals about the use of social networks for screening job applicants. The results are shown in this infographic. How important is to manage your online image?

It’s very important to manage your on-line image for many reasons, not just because hiring managers are looking at it. Your on-line image represents who you are, your choice of friends, how you act outside of work and your opinions and beliefs. Your on-line image should mirror your actual image. Your choice of what you post, how you compose your posts, and what images you show reflect how you think, your choices and your personal conduct. Anyone can see it, from family to friends to current and prospective employers. After reading the article I was only slightly surprised to find that so many hiring managers were using social media to screen potential job applicants. The use of social media by nearly everyone to some degree was bound to cross over into the hiring process, especially when hiring managers can get an unbiased look at your personality, communication skills, references and how others respond and communicate with you. So, yes it is very important to manage your on-line image. It is a digital self-portrait that all can see. It is your choice what your self-portrait looks like.
